Onyx Keesha, Award-Winning International Filmmaker

Today, we honor Onyx Keesha as a Pink Love Purveyor. I have worked in the past with Onyx on a few projects and been blessed to see her in action. She is currently building an amazing movement called Create Nation online, of which I am a member. I can honestly say that her content has helped me grow and think about how my creativity shows up in the world. I am excited introduce her to some and present her to others.

Award Winning International Filmmaker, Onyx Keesha can be seen in front of the camera as well as behind the camera. Her body of work is extensive and her passion for film is unmatched. In addition to acting, producing, and directing, Onyx is dedicated to teaching film to girls and women through her program, IndiePink. Her goal is to empower female indie filmmakers to think big and have the skills to compete in an industry where women are grossly under represented. Her web shows ”Coffee Break w/Onyx" and "40 & Figuring it out" tackle serious topics, while having fun, with a personal one on one feel, both shows encourage conversation and bonding. You will be entertained, enlightened, and inspired... Come and take a journey with Onyx... you never know what you might experience. As an activist Onyx strives to use her platform to empower women around the world. A sex positive and body positive message is something she stands on. Women should never never apologize for who they are, who they love, how they love, and what they desire. Onyx's motto is #unapologeticallyMe and she tells women to always be #unapologeticallyYOU. 💕Hi, Onyx! What a blessing to have you! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to chat with us today. How have you been holding up during the present climate?

Self-care is so important. I spend a lot of time reminding myself what I am grateful for. I also reach out to my circle when I am feeling low. Sometimes just a "hello" can change everything. I also am very intentional about being present.

💕What tips would you offer for those that may find themselves struggling through these tough times?

It is truly all about your mindset. Start a gratitude journal. Think of all the things that are going right, rather than the things that are challenging. Use social media to connect and not feel so isolated. Lastly, CREATE. CREATE. CREATE. The arts truly heal, and creative expression truly helps.

💕Gratitude journals are very helpful for those days when you need reminding. Looking over acknowledged blessings can be an activator of hope in darker moments. I believe that gratitude journals are a great tool to have in one's self care toolshed. What have you been doing within your community to help with their personal care?

Well first I created a movement called CREATE NATION our motto is Create | Inspire | Evolve - I am able to help others continue to dream and execute their creative goals. Sometimes building community is one of the best ways to get through difficult times. Being connected to like-minded souls helps us feel not so alone.

Also, I have been doing a lot of LIVE interviews, performances, parties to help us still feel connected.

💕First, let me reiterate, how much I love being a part of Create Nation. It has been very helpful to me. So, Onyx, before we go, one last question. We are in a time where social media has become very essential. Compared to your past use, how has social media changed for your during this time?

Social media has become a true way to connect and build community. I am extremely passionate about teaching others how to use social media to tell their stories. During this time, it is imperative that we are intentional about representation and transparency. We never know who our stories may heal, help, or inspire.
